POSITIVE/NEGATIVE
“Positive” and “negative” are basic terms of both sculpture and photography and the starting point for Johannes Döring’s artistic question. In his approach, he turns the photographic negative into the mental mold of plastic. In order to make this hypothesis physical, analogue photography and plaster relief merge into one intellectual and spatial entity in his works. His investigations focus on fragmentary artifacts, conditions of cultural production and representation in private, institutional and film spaces.
